Plourde Advances to 1500m Finals at Canadian Championships

TOWNSHIP OF LANGLEY, B.C. – Simone Plourde of Utah cross country and track & field advanced to the finals of 1500m race at the Canadian Championships on Saturday inside McLeod Athletic Park after posting yet another PR.

"I felt strong in the last 200m of the race and am excited to come away with a PR," Plourde said post race. "I think there's more in store for tomorrow and am excited to give it everything I have for my last race of the year!"
 
The Utah sophomore earned an automatic berth into the finals after finishing third in her heat with a PR mark of 4:14.93 – and was just .35 off from the leader while ending up with the fifth-fastest time on Saturday.
 
Finals will take place on Sunday, June 26, at 3:50 p.m. (MT) / 2:50 p.m. (PT) local. Fans can watch Plourde chase for a podium finish with a +Runnerspace account on AthleticsCanada.tv.
