Brzykcy Named to United Soccer Coaches Preseason Watch List

UCLA graduate student Lauren Brzykcy has been named to the United Soccer Coaches Players to Watch List for goalkeepers.

Brzykcy, who is enrolled in the UCLA School of Education and Information Studies, was an All-American and the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year in 2020. She is a two-time all-region and all-conference selection and a five-time Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week selection. Last season, she started all 20 games and allowed just 11 goals in 1805 minutes of play, leading the Pac-12 and ranking in the Top 10 nationally with a 0.55 goals against average. Brzykcy tied for the Pac-12 lead in 2021 with nine solo shutouts and also had one shared shutout.

Entering the 2022 season, Brzykcy ranks sixth all-time at UCLA in career saves (161), shutouts (20) and wins (37). She holds a career goals against average of 0.69 and a career record of 37-5-6.

The preseason No. 13 Bruins will host Fresno State on Aug. 13 in an exhibition contest before opening the season on Aug. 18 against Iowa at 7pm. Tickets for the Iowa contest and all other regular season home games are on sale now at uclabruins.com/tickets.
