Aug 18, 2022

SEATTLE – The Washington women's soccer team picked up a season-opening win over Fresno State, 3-0, on Thursday night. UW outshot the Bulldogs 18-2 in the win.

The Huskies started the scoring early when Kyla Ferry scored with her right foot to the near post off a pass by Karlee Stueckle. The goal by Ferry, is the fourth of her career and third at Washington.

In the 13th minute, Stueckle doubled the lead sending the ball to the back of the net in just outside of the top right of the goalie box. Her three points in the contest set a new career high for the fifth year senior.

UW continued to add on as Hailey Still scored her first career goal in the 35th minute, a header off a corner kick by Cori Sullivan.

The duo of Olivia Sekany and Olivia Juarez combined for the clean sheet as the Husky defense allowed only one shot on goal.

The three goal by the Huskies marks the first time since 2014 that UW opened the season with three or more goals. The last was vs. Kentucky as Washington went on to win 4-1.

UW is back in action on Sunday afternoon when it takes on Air Force at 1 p.m. at Husky Soccer Stadium. Tickets are available by clicking here.
