USC's Croix Bethune Named to MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List

Aug 18, 2022

LOS ANGELES -- The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List was released today and USC women's soccer standout midfielder Croix Bethune was named to the list.

Bethune, who was a semifinalist for the award last season, enters her third season on the pitch for the Trojans in 2022. She is one of four players named to this year's preseason watch list who were also semifinalists last season. Bethune was also recently ranked the No. 1 player in women's college soccer by TopDrawerSoccer.com.

The Hermann Trophy, presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.

Bethune had an all-time great season for the Trojans last year, earning All-America first team honors as well as being named the Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year. Her 16 goals scored in 2021 were the third most ever in a season by a Trojan, while her 10 assists were tied for the 6th most in a season by a USC player and 42 total points were 4th most in program history.

Bethune and the Trojans open up the 2022 season tonight at Purdue when they take on the Boilermakers in a non-conference matchup at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET. USC's season opener can be seen on the Big Ten Network.
