Carson Barry Leads Men’s Golf In Second Round At Folds Of Honor Collegiate

Sep 27, 2022

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – Carson Barry sank six birdies and shot a 1-under 71 to pace the Oregon State men's golf team in its second round of play Tuesday at the Folds of Honor Collegiate.
The Beavers, as a team, shot a 6-over 294 and enter the final day of action at 10-over and in ssss place at the par-72, 7,128-yard American Dunes Golf Club.
"The wind, once again, was really difficult, maybe even a little more gusty than yesterday," Oregon State head coach Jon Reehoorn said. "I think that played in to it. We hit some poor shots because they weren't truly committed to what they were going to do with the wind.
"One thing about this group is that they're always going to compete. Carson battled really nicely on the back nine. It was nice to see him battle back like he did. I feel like we're playing really solid golf, just in the moments when the wind gets tough and there's some indecision, they just need to be a little more committed to what they're doing."
Jackson Lake remains the team's leader after finishing with a 3-over 75 over the second set of 18 holes. He stands in a tie for 15th with a 2-over 146 over the first 36 holes of the tournament.
Barry jumped into a tie for 19th place with his 1-under showing on Tuesday. He birdied the par-5 13th hole, three par-4s (3, 14 and 17) and two par-3s (4 and 15). He's now posted three rounds under par this season and 43 for his career.
Mateo Fuenmayor has equaled Barry through the first 36 and shot a 2-over 74 on Tuesday. He birdied the par-5 sixth and two par-4s (1 and 3) on Tuesday.
Collin Hodgkinson enters the final day of action tied for 29th. He's at a 5-over 149 over his first 36 holes and has made five birdies.
Rylan Johnson is one shot behind Hodgkinson after posting a 2-over 74 on Tuesday. He's connected on four birdies over the first two days and enters the final day of action in a tie for 34th.
