Brown, Thiemann, Fox To Attend Pac-12 Media Day

SAN FRANCISCO – California men's basketball head coach Mark Fox and student-athletes Joel Brown and Lars Thiemann will represent the Golden Bears at the 2022 Pac-12 Conference Men's Basketball Media Day in San Francisco on Wednesday, Oct. 26. The Cal trio will preview the upcoming 2022-23 season alongside fellow representatives from each Pac-12 program at the conference's annual kickoff event.
 
Coverage of Basketball Media Days will be available across Pac-12 Networks, Pac-12 Insider, Pac-12.com and the Pac-12 Now app. Commissioner George Kliavkoff is set to begin the day at 10 a.m. PT and will be joined on stage by Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer Jamie Zaninovich.
 
A press conference featuring Cal's trio of Fox, Brown and Thiemann will be streamed on Pac-12 Insider, Pac-12.com and the Pac-12 Now app at 12:05 p.m. PT. Cal's representatives will later join the Pac-12 Networks crew for a televised segment at 3:15 p.m. PT.
 
Brown, a fourth-year senior guard from Brampton, Ontario, has earned 62 starts in 90 games played dating back to the 2019-20 season. Cal's assists leader in each of the past two seasons, Brown averaged a career-high 3.2 assists per game in 2021-22 and ranked fourth among Pac-12 players with a 2.10 assist-to-turnover ratio in conference play. A former academic all-district team selection, Brown is a business administration major.
 
Thiemann, a fourth-year senior center, stepped into a starting role over the final 11 games of last season and averaged 7.2 points and 5.7 rebounds in that span. The Krefeld, Germany, native has been durable throughout his collegiate career with 92 games played and has shot 55.2 percent from the field in three seasons. Another academic standout, Thiemann is a two-time Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll selection and is majoring in nutrition science.
