BREATHTAKING BRANCH

*WR Zachariah Branch continues to impress the college football world with his shifty moves and electric returns. Against Stanford, he returned a punt for a 75-yard TD in the second quarter . He had a 96- yard kickoff return for a TD vs. San Jose State on Aug. 26.

*He also has 2 TD receptions this season and is the first Trojan since Adoree' Jackson in 2016 to have a punt return and kickoff return for a TD, as well as at least one receiving TD in the same season. Jackson had 2 punt returns and 2 kickoff returns for TDs and 1 TD reception during the 2016 season.

*Since 1971 (when records are available) Branch is one of just 3 USC players to accomplish the feat, joining Jackson and Curtis Conway (1992 – 1 kickoff return TD, 1 punt return TD, 5 rec TD). He also had 4 receptions for 30 yards and 1 carry for 2 rushing yards against Stanford.

*He also has a rushing TD this season (against Utah).

*Branch is currently No. 2 in the nation in combined kick returns (684), kickoff return TDs (1) and punt return TDs (1) and No. 3 in the nation in punt returns (20.6).

*Defending Heisman Trophy winner QB Caleb Williams went 27-for-35 for 312 yards and 3 TDs and rushed for 1 more TD in USC's 42-52 loss to Washington in the Coliseum.

*The Trojans have lost consecutive home games for the first time since falling on Nov. 20, 2021 vs. UCLA (33-62) and Nov. 27, 2021 vs. BYU (31-35)

*USC's 42 points were the most Washington allowed in a game this season (previous high 33 twice – Oregon and Stanford).

*There were 10 combined scoring drives of 75 yards or more throughout the game.

*The 35 first-half points by Washington were the most points the Huskies have ever scored in a game against the Trojans.

*The combined 63 points in the first half were the most in a Pac-12 game in five seasons.

*The 4 TDs by Washington in the second quarter tied a USC opponent record for most TDs in one quarter (7th time, last by Oregon in 2019).

*USC's 14 first-quarter points were the most allowed by Washington in the first quarter this season. Washington had allowed a total of 23 points in the first quarter this season from all opponents combined (previous high of 8 by Oregon).

*WR Brenden Rice caught a 25-yard pass from Williams to score. This was Rice's 10th TD of the season. He is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation (and tied for No. 1 in the Pac-12 Conference) for receiving TDs.

*WR Mario Williams caught a 20-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to tie the game at 42-all.

*S Calen Bullock led the team with 9 tackles

*CB Christian Roland-Wallace intercepted a Penix Jr. pass in the end zone. It was his second INT of the season (the first at Colorado) and the fourth of his career. He also recorded 3 tackles and 1 PBU.

*WR Duce Robinson blocked a Washington punt late in the first quarter. It was his first career blocked punt. It was USC's second blocked punt of the season (Romello Height at Colorado). Prior to that, USC had not blocked a punt since Jake Russell blocked a punt at UCLA in 2018.
