Washington State Announces 2024 Football Schedule

PULLMAN, Wash. – Following the release of the 2024 Mountain West Conference football schedule, Washington State football's 2024 schedule will see the Cougars play six home games at Gesa Field, highlighted by a visit from Texas Tech in Week 2, a neutral-site Apple Cup matchup at Lumen Field in Week 3, and a meeting at Oregon State in late November.
 
"Football games on the Palouse are unlike any other in the country," said WSU Director of Athletics Pat Chun. "Each weekend is an opportunity to come home, support the football team and enjoy everything that makes Washington State so special. The 2024 schedule will be unlike any we've had in the past!"
 
For the 2024 season, WSU entered into a scheduling agreement with the Mountain West Conference for six games. With that, the Cougars will play one Pac-12 Conference game, against Oregon State, and 11 nonconference matchups throughout their campaign.
 
WSU opens its 2024 schedule by hosting Portland State Aug. 31, at Gesa Field. The Cougars own a 3-1 advantage in the all-time series, including 44-24 win in 2021, the last meeting between the teams. The following week, Sept. 7, the Cougars welcome Big 12 opponent Texas Tech to Pullman. This marks only the third between all-time between the schools and the first since 1964. The contest is also the first in the series played in Pullman.
 
The Cougars travel across the state the following week for a Sept. 14 meeting against Washington in the Apple Cup. The neutral-site game will be played at Lumen Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks, and marks the first time is the series storied history the game will be played in September. This year's Apple Cup marks the 116th meeting between the schools, a rivalry that began in 1900.
 
A meeting with San José State at Gesa Field on Sept. 21 is next on the schedule, marking the third home game in four weeks to open the 2024 schedule for WSU. The Cougars hold an 8-4-1 advantage in the all-time series, including a 31-0 home victory in 2018, the last time these teams met. A trip to Boise State on Sept. 28 marks the first away game on the schedule. WSU is 5-1 all-time against the Broncos, which includes a thrilling, 47-44 triple-overtime victory in Pullman in 2017, the last meeting between the schools.
 
Following their first of two bye weeks, the Cougars remain on the road to face Fresno State, Oct. 12. WSU holds a 3-2 advantage in the series, including a 39-37 win during the 1992 season, the last time the game was played in Fresno. The Cougars return home to face Hawai'i, Oct. 19. The game marks the sixth in the all-time series and the first to be played in Pullman. A road trip to San Diego State is set for the next week, Oct. 26. The Cougars and Aztecs are even at 1-1 in the all-time series.
 
After the second bye week of the season, WSU hosts Utah State on Nov. 9 at Gesa Field. The series against the Aggies dates back to 1949 and the two teams have split the previous four matchups. The Cougars begin a two-game stretch away from Gesa Field Nov. 16 when they travel to Albuquerque to face New Mexico. WSU holds a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series against the Lobos. The lone Pac-12 Conference game follows on Nov. 23 when the Cougars head to Corvallis to face Oregon State. The Cougars have won nine of the last 10 meetings, including a thrilling 38-35 last season in Pullman. WSU leads the all-time series 57-48-3.
 
WSU closes out its 2024 regular season by hosting Wyoming Nov. 30 at Gesa Field. The contest marks the eighth meeting in the all-time series, with WSU holding a 5-2 advantage, including a 41-19 victory in 2018, the last time the teams met.
 
Dates for WSU's 2024 Homecoming and Family Weekend games will be announced at a later date. Game times will also be announced at a later date.
