Day One of Mt. SAC Multis in the Books

WALNUT, Calif. – After day one of the heptathlon at the Mt. SAC Relays, Taylor Chocek is fourth among collegians and 11th overall in the elite section with 3,480 points. Rafael Raap, also competing in the elite field, is 16th overall with 3,712 points in the decathlon.
 
Replacing a personal best set earlier this season, Chocek put a bow on day one with a new lifetime best of 24.37 in the 200 meters. The performance was good for 945 points toward her total. She entered the day with a then-best of 24.63 from the Oregon Preview (March 23). Chocek's highest-scoring event was the 100-meter hurdles by way of a 13.94 (-1.1) to start the day, good for 987 points.
 
The Eugene native added marks of 1.70m/5-7 in the high jump and 12.48m/40-11.5 in the shot put. Day two of the heptathlon consists of the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.
 
Raap got his day started with a collegiate best of 10.97 in the 100 meters, topping his 10.99 at the Pac-12 Championships last year. Raap had a day's best finish of 12th among the field in the shot put, getting the implement out to 14.12m/46-4 on his second attempt. He had other marks of 6.52m/21-4.75 in the long jump, 1.80m/5-10.75 in the high jump and 50.75 in the 400 meters.
 
The second day of the decathlon includes the 110 hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500 meters.

Up Next: The elite section of the combined events resumes Thursday morning. Day two of the Mt. SAC Relays also includes the collegiate javelin for Annika Williams, her first of two events scheduled for the weekend. Collegiate and elite sections of other events are slated for Friday and Saturday, respectively.
