Track & Field Heads to SoCal for Mt. SAC Relays

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah track & field team this week will send its sprints and jumps quad this weekend down to Southern California to compete at the 64th running of the Mt. SAC Relays inside Hilmer Lodge Stadium.

FROM THE START LINE
Utah will send 15 members of its sprints and jumps crew this weekend to the Mt. SAC Relays in nine different events as they look to post qualifying marks for the NCAA West Regional meet in late May. Of the 15 competitors, Harley Daniel (400mH), Josefine Eriksen (400m) and Bailey Kealamakia (400mH) currently own regional qualifying times from the west region on the sprints side of things.

This week's meet will feature a couple alumnae in Poppy Tank and Dinedye Denis for the Women of Utah. Tank, who was an Second-Team All-American in the 10k and honorable mention in the 5k, will compete on Thursday, April 18, in the 3000m steeplechase for her first outdoor track race of the season. Denis, who was an All-American Honorable Mention last season or Utah, will run in the 400m hurdles elite section alongside former teammate Harley Daniel on Saturday, April 20. Denis will also run the opening leg in the 4x100m relay as a member of the Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) national team.
 
ROAD TO PARIS
Josefine Eriksen and former Ute Dinedye Denis will both head to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas in a couple weeks to compete for their respective countries at the World Athletics Relays (May 4-5) inside Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium located in Nassau.
 
Eriksen will compete for her native country of Norway as a member of the 4x400m relay team while Denis will compete as a member of the Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) national team in the 4x100m relay.
