Trojan Oarswomen Compete in 2024 European Rowing Championship

LOS ANGELES — Three former Trojans will compete at the 2024 European Rowing Championships on April 25 – 28 in Budapest, Hungary. Assistant Coach Dorottya Bene, USC All-American Radka Novotnikova, and Olympian Chloe Brew will each represent their countries in this regatta.
 
Brew, who graduated in 2019, will row for Great Britain in the Women's Pair and race against Novotinikova, representing the Czech Republic in the same category. Bene will compete for Hungary in the Lightweight Women's Double Skulls. 
 
While at USC, Brew also helped the Women of Troy earn an invitation to the NCAA Championships where the team placed 12th overall in the nation and finished in sixth place with the Varsity 8 in the A/B semifinal. Brew also earned 4th place as a team at the Pac-12 Championships.
 
In 2020, Brew was selected for the Tokyo Olympics with the British 8+ boat and placed fifth in the repechage. Brew was assigned to the 2019 CRCA Pocock All-American team. Brew placed first with the Great Britain Development 8 at the 2018 Henley Women's in England and stroked for Great Britain's U23 National Team at the 2017 U23 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
 
Bene graduated from USC in 2019 and has been an assistant coach for the Women of Troy since 2020. She helped the Women of Troy earn an invitation to the NCAA Championships as a USC rower, where the team placed 12th overall in the nation. Bene finished third place with the Second Varsity 8 in the C Final at NCAAs. She earned 4th place as a team at the Pac-12 Championships. 
 
Bene, a native Hungarian, is a 21-time national champion while representing her country. She competed in the Women's Single Sculls competition at the 2018 Senior World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Bene is a multi-year member of the Hungarian National Team and was part of Hungary's Olympic Development Program for two years. She was named Hungary's 2014 Female Rower of the Year as a U23/Senior. Bene placed eighth at the U23 World Rowing Championships in 2013 and 2014 in the Lw2x. She claimed sixth at the 2014 Senior European Championships in the Lw1x.     
 
Novotnikova, who graduated from USC in 2018, has a long history in the USC women's rowing program. Novotnikova was named a 2018 CRCA All-American and was selected to the CRCA Pac-12 All-Conference team.  Sheprimarily rowed with the Varsity 8+ and Helped the Women of Troy earn an invitation to the NCAA Championships, where the team placed 12th overall in the nation. Novotnikova finished sixth place with the Varsity 8 in the A/B semifinal at NCAAs and earned 4th place as a team at the Pac-12 Championships.
