Buffs Performed Well as Pac-12 Championships Draws Near

TUCSON, Ariz.— Personal records continued to fall at the Desert Heat Classic as the outdoor season winds down and the 2024 Pac-12 Track and Field Championships near.

Jada Green broke her own school record in the javelin throw, tossing 53.27 meters (174 feet, 9 inches) for a second-place finish. Green had previously broken the record last season at the Pac-12 championship, throwing 169 feet, 6 inches to break a 37-year record. Alaina Fantaski threw a personal best 44.14 meters for a seventh-place finish.

In the 800 meters, Elliot Pribramsky finished with a time of 2:11.58, a little over a second off her personal best to finish 14th.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Abbey Glynn finished third with a time of 56.84, Emma Pollack finished ninth with a time of 59.05, and Joy Moorer returned to her home state of Arizona and ran a personal best of 59.91.

The Women's 4x100 relay team — Jada Green, Emma Pollak, Joy Moorer, and Abbey Glynn — ran for the first time this outdoor season and finished with a time of 45.60 seconds, placing them ninth all-time in CU history.

Riley Ward placed eighth in the high jump with a leap of 1.75 meters (5 feet, 8.75 inches), a personal best. Allie Routledge placed 13th with a clearance of 1.65 meters.

Kara Lucyk jumped a personal best 6.14 meters in the long jump for a seventh-place finish. The mark placed her in CU's top-10 performance list with that mark. Eva Bruce finished 17th with a mark of 5.62 meters.

Amanda Opp threw 43.97 meters, a personal best in the discus, to place 16th.

In the women's hammer throw, Bella Braun (54.38 meters) and Amanda Opp (53.74 meters) placed 10th and 13th, respectively.

On the men's side, Matt Ward broke his own school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 68.52 meters (224 feet, 10 inches) for a second-place finish, a record he broke last season in Fort Collins, Colorado. Ward also placed tenth in the discus with a mark of 50.71 meters. Laurence Atkinson placed 12th in the hammer throw and discus with marks of 50.07 meters and 54.53 meters, respectively.

In the long jump pit, Aidan Christiansen placed seventh with a personal best mark of 7.46 meters.

The men's 4x100 team — Luke Dry, Danny Tragarz, Garrett Nelson, and Cole Romig — placed seventh with a time of 3:12.17, a mark that placed them on CU's top-10 performance list.

Tyler Scholl placed second in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:32.95, seconds off his personal best.

Nelson, Romig, and Tragarz placed 7th, 8th, and 9th, respectively. Tragarz ran a personal best of 51.87.

In the 110-meter hurdles, John Swabik (14.29) and Troy Colleran (15.46) ran personal bests to finish 16th and 24th, respectively.

Wilson Georges placed fourth with a personal best of 3:48.67 in the 1500 meters.

In the men's 800 meters, Reese Kilbarger-Stumpf (1:54.21) and Antonio Comacho-Bucks (1:51.49) ran personal bests.

Up next for the Buffs is the final tune-up before the Pac-12 Track & Field Championships. CU will head south for the Air Force Twilight.
