Arizona Completes NCAA West First Round Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Wildcats wrapped up the final day of the NCAA West First Round Championships on Saturday at Arkansas' John McDonnell Field. Five individual women and one relay team competed on the day for the Wildcats.
 
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
Tapenisa Havea finished 14th overall in the women's discus, narrowly missing out on advancing to her second consecutive NCAA Championships. Havea gave it her all, posting a personal best heave of 182-6 (55.62m) which ranks sixth all-time in school history. She also placed fourth in her event flight.
 
In the women's high jump, both Paris Mikinski and Emma Gates cleared a height of 5-9.25 (1.76m). Mikinski tied for 16th overall and Gates placed 18th due to the tiebreaker.
 
TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
In the quarterfinals of the women's 400m hurdles, Antonia Sanchez Nunez placed 13th overall and missed the cut on qualifying for her first career NCAA Championships in a competitive field by just 0.03 seconds. The sophomore clocked a time of 57.48 on the day.
 
McKenna Watson finished 22nd overall in the quarterfinals of the women's 200m, running a time of 23.37 (+3.4).
 
The women's team of Camila Aguilar-Perez, Keilee Hall, Antonia Sanchez Nunez, and Ava Simms placed 19th overall in the quarterfinals of the 4x400m relay. The team clocked a time of 3:35.68 which was right around their season best.
