Bears Finish Up At NCAA West Preliminary

Caisa-Marie Lindfors was Cal's top finisher of the day, taking 15th in the women's discus.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – California track & field had five women competing at John McDonnell Field on Saturday for the last day of the NCAA West Preliminary; at the conclusion of the evening, however, none of the Golden Bears had placed in their events' top 12 to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
 
Cal had two women competing in the discus. Junior Caisa-Marie Lindfors finished just a few places shy of the qualifying cutoff with a throw of 55.49m (182-0), while senior Jasmine Blair closed out her collegiate career with a mark of 50.98m (167-3). High jumper Toby Lai also ended her season in Fayetteville, posting a best mark of 1.71m (5-7.25).
 
Over on the track, junior Aysha Shaheed ended her 2024 campaign with a time of 11.34 in the 100m. Senior Jada Hicks, hoping to reach the NCAA Championships in the 100m hurdles for a second-straight year, finished with a time of 26.31w after tripping over a hurdle.

UP NEXT
Cal's qualifiers will head to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, where they will compete in the men's events on June 5 and 7.
