Sun Devil Track & Field Qualifies Seven Individuals, One Relay to NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Track Town bound!

Led by Adriana Tatum, Sun Devil Track & Field qualified seven individuals and one relay to the NCAA Championships while competing at the NCAA West Regionals at the University of Arkansas' John McDonnell Field from May 22-25.

The Sun Devils are set to compete in nine separate events at the NCAA Championships, held June 5-8 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. It's the fourth consecutive season the Sun Devils have qualified 11 to the national championships.

Tatum punched her ticket to the national championships twice on Sunday, qualifying in both the 100m (11.01) and 200m (22.36), both new personal-best times under all conditions.

The Sun Devils will send veterans like Tatum, Justin Robinson and Dayton Carlson to NCAAs, but also newcomers in Brandon Lloyd, Alexandria Johnson, Ines Lopez, Jayden Davis and Saira Prince.

The Men's 4x400 is the lone Sun Devil relay heading to Eugene, as Jayden Davis-Kaleb Simpson-Nicholas Ramey-Gamali Felix clinched a spot on Friday evening with their time of 3:02.42, the fifth-best time posted. The reigning Pac-12 Champion relay will now contend for an Outdoor national title in a few weeks.

Men's 100m
Kaleb Simpson ran a 10.33 (17th) in the first round, placing within the top-three of his heat and qualifying for Friday's 100m quarterfinals.

Men's 400m
Justin Robinson ran a 45.81 (14th) in the first round, placing within the top-three of his heat and qualifying for Friday's 400m quarterfinals.

Jayden Davis ran a 45.63 (10th) in the first round, placing within the top-three of his heat and qualifying for Friday's 400m quarterfinals.

Gamali Felix ran a 45.90 (17th) in the first round, placing within the top-24 and qualifying for Friday's 400m quarterfinals.

Nicholas Ramey (46.67) and Denzell Feagin (47.80) did not qualify within the top-24 to reach Friday's quarterfinals.

Men's 800m
Dayton Carlson ran a 1:49.00 (26th) in the first round, placing within the top-three of his heat and qualifying for Friday's 800m quarterfinals.

Men's shot put
Brandon Lloyd became the first Sun Devil to punch his ticket to the national championships, throwing 19.26m (63-2 ¼") to place sixth overall. The top-12 automatically qualified for the championships, which will be held from June 5-8 in Eugene, Oregon.

Men's 200m
Kaleb Simpson (21.05) did not qualify within the top-24 to reach Friday's quarterfinals.

THURSDAY, MAY 23 (JOHNSON QUALIFIES FOR NCAAs, 2 REACH QUARTERFINALS)
Women's 100m hurdles

Saira Prince ran a 13.40 (27th) in the first round and did not qualify within the top-24 to reach Saturday's quarterfinals.

Adriana Tatum ran an 11.15 (14th) in the first round, placing within the top-24 and qualifying for Saturday's 100m quarterfinals.

Women's long jump
Freshman Alex Johnson set a new personal-best at 6.52m (12th) to punch her ticket to the national championships.

Saira Prince ran a 58.41 (21st) in the first round, placing within the top-three of her heat and qualifying for Saturday's quarterfinals.

Adriana Tatum ran a 22.63 (3rd) in the first round, winning her heat and qualifying for Saturday's quarterfinals.

Brandon Lloyd threw a 56.59m (14th) in the first round and did not qualify within the top-12 to reach the NCAA Championships.

Kaleb Simpson-Momodou Sey-Trevin Moyer-Eysias Banks teamed up for a 40.17 (19th) in the quarterfinals and did not qualify within the top-12 to reach the NCAA Championships.

Men's 100m
Kaleb Simpson ran a 10.09 (14th) in the quarterfinals and did not qualify within the top-12 to reach the NCAA Championships. Under all conditions, it was a personal-best time and also the best in team history (wind +2.5).

Men's 400m
Justin Robinson ran a 45.20 (2nd) in the quarterfinals, the second-fastest time posted in this round, to qualify within the top-12 and reach the NCAA Championships.

Jayden Davis ran a 45.97 (14th) in the quarterfinals and did not qualify within the top-12 to reach the NCAA Championships.

Gamali Felix ran a 46.16 (16th) in the quarterfinals and did not qualify within the top-12 to reach the NCAA Championships.

Dayton Carlson ran a 1:47.66 (8th) in the quarterfinals to qualify within the top-12 and reach the NCAA Championships.

Ines Lopez threw a personal-best mark of 57.43m (8th) in the first round to qualify within the top-12 and reach the NCAA Championships.

Ashantai Bollers-Adriana Tatum-Naiya Morgan-Jazmine Hobson teamed up to go 43.94 (t-12th) in the quarterfinals and did not qualify within the top-12 to reach the NCAA Championships.

Women's triple jump
Kiara Lee recorded a new personal-best mark of 13.13m (18th), under all conditions, but did not qualify within the top-12 marks to reach the NCAA Championships.

Tierra Robinson-Jones turned in an effort of 12.67m (35th) and did not qualify within the top-12 marks to reach the NCAA Championships.
