Rain Forces Postponement Of Opening Day In Irvine

The Husky Baseball team will have to wait another day before they begin their journey to return to Omaha after rain forced the postponement of Friday's season-opening game against UC Irvine. The teams will now play a double header on Saturday.

Huskies' Focus Pointed Towards Season-Opening Road Swing

Suddenly the Washington Huskies find themselves starting the 2019 baseball season on a two-week road trip after weather forced the Huskies to move their opening home series from Husky Ballpark to Phoenix, Ariz. First up, UW heads to Orange County, Calif., to face Baseball America's 25th-ranked team, UC-Irvine, followed by a single game on Monday against D1Baseball.com's No. 25 ranked team, Cal-State Fullerton. The Huskies then travel to Phoenix, Ariz., where they will host Northern Colorado for four games at Grand Canyon University's Brazell Field.

Washington Moves Home Opening Baseball Series To Arizona

Washington Baseball's opening four-game home series originally scheduled from Feb. 22-24 at Husky Ballpark against Northern Colorado has been moved to Arizona. The series will now be played Feb. 21-23 at Brazell Field at GCU Ballpark on the campus of Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.

2019 Season Preview: Pitchers

Lindsay Meggs might have the deepest and most versatile pitching staff he has had in his 10 years at Washington. He and pitching coach Jason Kelly will lean on this group of arms to continue the UW trend of not only ranking among the Pac-12's best stable of pitchers, but help lead the team to a return trip to Omaha.

2019 Season Preview: Catchers

There is no doubt who Washington's starting catcher will be in 2019. Nick Kahle, who caught almost 97 percent of the team's innings behind the plate during UW's College World Series run and earned All-Pac-12 accolades, will be the main man. But Coach Lindsay Meggs will have other options behind the dish, including the much improved Michael Petrie and a pair of freshmen: Colton Cassinelli and Albert Hsiao.
