Utah's Sarah Newton and Brooke Manson closed out their 2019 season at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships on Friday, competing at Hornet Stadium.
The Utah track & field team opened the first day of the NCAA West Preliminary Championships with three student-athletes advancing to the quarterfinal round, Thursday evening at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif. Sarah Feeny (1500m), Brooke Manson (800m) and Sarah Newton (800m) each qualified for the next round in their respective events.
Seven different athletes will represent the Utah track & field team this week at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships, which will take place this Thursday through Saturday, May 23-25. The event will be held at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif.

The Utes will be represented by juniors Sarah Newton (800m), Sarah Feeny (1500m, 5K), Bella Williams (5K), and Poppy Tank (10K), along with freshmen Brooke Manson (800m), Cara Woolnough (1500m) and Skyler Blair (400m hurdles).
Utah's Kolbi Sims and Sarah Newton highlighted the Utes' final day of competition at the 2019 Pac-12 Track & Field Outdoor Championships Sunday evening at Drachman Stadium in Tucson, Ariz. Sims placed fifth overall in the high jump event, while Newton posted a seventh-place finish in the 800-meters.
Despite a weather delay that lasted nearly four hours, the Utah track & field team managed to pick up two more points and send a runner into the finals at the Pac-12 Outdoor Championships late Saturday evening and early Sunday morning at Drachman Stadium in Tucson, Ariz.
