Habgood Collects a Top-10 Finish at the 2022 Pac-12 Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Senior Darcy Habgood became the first Washington State women's golfer to post a top-10 finish at the Pac-12 Championships in over a decade, as the Australian native finished in a tie for ninth place on the player leaderboard after carding 4-over 220 over three rounds at the Eugene Country Club.

Habgood becomes only the fourth WSU women's golfer to post a top-10 finish at the Pac-12 Championships in program history. She is also the first Coug since Amy Eneroth (ninth place) in 2009 to post a top-10 finish at the conference championship. Habgood had a strong performance over her final 36 holes of play, as she shot 1-over par in her final two rounds of play. The Australian native ended the 2022 Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships by collecting scores of 75-72-73.

"We are so proud of Darcy and excited about her finish at the PAC-12 Championships," said WSU Women's Golf Head Coach Kelli Kamimura. "She is an extremely hard worker and is relentless about reaching her full potential. She plays with heart and gives maximum effort on every shot. Darcy exemplifies what it means to be a Coug and it was great to see her hard work pay off on such a big stage."

Washington State concluded the 2022 Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships in 10th place with a three-round score of 915 (+51). The Cougars carded 305-298-315 in their final tournament of the 2021-22 season. WSU's second-round score of 298 is tied for the sixth-best single-round score at the Pac-12 Championships in program history.

Freshman Madelyn Gamble and junior Jiye Ham each finished inside the top-45 on the player leaderboard. Gamble ended her first Pac-12 Championships tied for 42nd after carding 16-over 232. Ham was one-stroke off Gamble's tournament score, as the junior posted scores of 78-77-78. Senior Amy Chu rounded out the team scoring for WSU at the Pac-12 Championships by placing 46th on the player leaderboard with a score of 237 (+21).

For the first time in Pac-12 Women's Golf Championship history teams were allowed to substitute golfers between rounds. WSU utilized a sub prior to the start of the third round, as senior Cameron March entered the lineup for freshman Jinyu Wu. Wu was tied for 29th posting scores of 73-77 before the substitution.

"The team played tough this week in challenging conditions," said Kamimura. "We have learned a lot individually and as a team this season that will help us continue to improve in the off-season to come back ready to compete at the highest level next Fall."

No. 2-ranked Oregon won the 2022 Pac-12 Women's Golf Championship. The host Ducks shot 295-285-290 over their three days of play to win the tournament by seven strokes over No. 1-ranked Stanford and Oregon State. Oregon's Hsin-Yu Lu won the individual title at the Pac-12 Championships by carding 6-under 210 through three rounds.
