2020 Pac-12 Hall of Honor inductee: California's Don Bowden
Track & Field
Mar 4, 2020
Setting the national half-mile record while in high school, Bowden would later set an NCAA mark in the half mile in 1957 while at the University of California, Berkeley. Later that year, after completing an economics final earlier in the day, Bowden became the first American to break the four-minute mile mark. At only 20 years old, he was the youngest person in the world to accomplish the feat, a mark he held at Cal for another 50 years.
