Utah football jumped out to a 20-3 halftime lead but gave up 28 unanswered points in the third quarter to Northwestern as it fell 31-20 in the Holiday Bowl Monday in San Diego. Jason Shelley recorded his two touchdowns in the first quarter and finished with 302 yards passing to go along with two interceptions. The Wildcats forced five turnovers in the second half, leading to 21 points and a shutout in the period.
