Distance Crew Clocks Fast Times at Stanford

May 4, 2014

STANFORD, Calif. – Four members of the Ducks’ distance crew solidified their spots for the NCAA preliminary round with season-best times at the Payton Jordan Invitational, Sunday.

Megan Patrignelli ran 10:03.82 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, a personal best for the All-American. The time is the eighth-fastest in the NCAA this season, second-fastest in the Pac-12, and moves her up to third on the Oregon all-time list.

In the men’s steeplechase, Tanguy Pepiot ran a season-best 8:43.24, a time that ranks seventh in the NCAA this season and the fastest in the conference.

Sarah Penney improved upon her PR from the Pepsi Dual with a time of 4:17.85 to finish fifth in her section of the women’s 1,500.

Parker Stinson closed the night in a loaded 5,000 field which consisted primarily of professional athletes and crossed in 13:45.62. The mark puts Stinson in a comfortable position to qualify to the NCAA meet in Fayetteville, Ark., after he already ran a solid 10,000-meter time in Stanford earlier this season.

The Ducks will compete at home for their final tune up before the Pac-12 Championships with the Oregon Twilight, Friday.  The meet will be aired live on the Pac-12 Networks. The Pac-12 Multis Championships will also take place next weekend on Saturday and Sunday in Pullman, Wash.
