Hundreds gathered for Elson S. Floyd’s memorial Monday in Pullman, KREM’s Ryan Simms notes. Students organized the grassroots memorial in his honor; KREM reports that an official memorial will not take place until August.
Former Utah running back Monk Bailey died at the age of 77 on Thursday, reports the Salt Lake Tribune. He led the Utes in rushing twice and later became a DB for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March.
Oregon State women’s basketball guard Jamie Weisner made the Canadian National Team roster as an alternate for the 2015 Pan America Games in Toronto (July 16-20). Other Pac-12 flavor on Team Canada includes the Plouffe sisters and UCLA’s Nirra Fields.
Speaking of which… USC men’s basketball’s Nikola Jovanovic made the Serbian National Team for the World University Games in South Korea this summer.
