Pac-12 Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Week

Oct 13, 2015

SAN FRANCISCO - The Conference office announced today the Pac-12 Women's Soccer Players of the Week for action from Oct. 5-11. CALIFORNIA's Arielle Ship took home Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this year, while STANFORD's Stephanie Amack was voted Defensive Player of the Week and WASHINGTON STATE's Ella Dederick was tabbed Goalkeeper of the Week.

Ship (Westlake Village, Calif.) played a part in all four California goals in its first unbeaten weekend in Pac-12 play. The junior scored twice and assisted once in the 3-2 win against Oregon and assisted the lone goal of the 1-0 win over Oregon State. The Pac-12’s leading goal scorer had her third multi-goal game of the season against the Ducks. She now has 10 goals on the year, which not only leads the Conference but also is tied for 21st in the country. It is her second weekly honor of the season and of her career. California now has 33 all-time weekly accolades.

Amack (Pleasanton, Calif.) played all 180 minutes for the then-No. 6 Cardinal in its two victories over Oregon State and Oregon. She scored the final goal of the game in the 3-0 victory over Oregon State, a left-footed shot from outside the box that found the top-left corner of the net. The junior helped hold Oregon State to only five total shots as well. In the 1-0 win over the Ducks, Amack and her teammates only allowed Oregon to fire three shots all game and they did not allow a corner kick all weekend either. It is her second career weekly accolade and it is Stanford’s 46th all-time.

Dederick (Camarillo, Calif.) posted two shutouts last weekend against Utah and Colorado. She saved five shots in the 1-0 win over Utah. In the 3-0 victory over Colorado, Dederick made a career-high 11 saves. Dederick came off her line often to help the then-No. 21 Cougars preserve their shutouts. She cleared long passes and saved shots as well. The redshirt freshman now has four shutouts on the year. It is her first career weekly honor and the 15th all-time for Washington State.

No. 23 California hosts No.19 Santa Clara at 2 p.m. PT on Thursday, Oct. 15 (Pac-12 Network). The Golden Bears then host Utah at 11 a.m. PT on Sunday, Oct. 18 (Pac-12 Bay Area/Mountain).
