Pac-12 Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Week

Oct 27, 2015

SAN FRANCISCO - The Conference office announced today the Pac-12 Women's Soccer Players of the Week for the week of Oct. 19-26. STANFORD's Haley Rosen took home Offensive Player of the Week honors, ARIZONA STATE’s Sara Tosti was voted Defensive Player of the Week and STANFORD’s Jane Campbell was tabbed Goalkeeper of the Week.

Rosen (Rolling Hills, Calif.) helped the Cardinal pull off a difficult sweep of the Washington schools last weekend. Rosen scored in the 13th minute at then-No. 25 Washington State, dribbling through three defenders before finishing the play with a calm shot past the goalkeeper. Then in overtime, Rosen sent in a cross that found Averie Collins who headed in the game-winning goal. In the 3-0 victory over Washington, Rosen scored the second goal of the game to provide some insurance for the Cardinal. Rosen led the team in points (five), goals (two) and shots (seven) on the weekend. It is the senior's first career weekly honor and the 47th and 48th for the Cardinal all-time after this week's selections.

Tosti (Santa Rosa, Calif.) played a key role in the Sun Devil defense that did not allow a goal over the weekend. Arizona State hosted Oregon State on Friday and won, 3-0. She played all 90 minutes and with the help of her teammates limited the Beavers to just six shots. Against Oregon on Sunday, the Sun Devils were down a player for the last 43 minutes of the match after a red card was issued. Tosti and the Sun Devil defense were up to the challenge and held on to the 1-0 lead for the win. This marks Tosti's second career weekly honor. Formerly a forward, her first honor came in 2013 when she won Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week. It is Arizona State's 25th all-time weekly honor.

Campbell (Kennesaw, Ga.), a MAC Hermann Trophy watch list member, helped the Cardinal win at then-No. 25 Washington State and Washington last weekend. Campbell made three saves in the 2-1 double-overtime victory over the Cougars on Friday. Against Washington, she earned her sixth shutout of the season and the 26th of her career. It was only the third time all year that Washington has been shutout. The junior's six shutouts are tied for the third-best mark in the Pac-12 this season. This is Campbell's first weekly honor of the season and the fourth of her career. Stanford now has 48 all-time weekly accolades.

No. 4 Stanford hosts No. 16 USC on Thursday at 7 p.m. PT, a battle between the top 2 teams in the league. Stanford then welcomes UCLA on Sunday at 3 p.m. PT. Both games will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
