Nov 3, 2015

SAN FRANCISCO – UCLA’s Abu Danladi was voted Pac-12 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for competition during the week of Oct. 25-Nov. 1, the Conference office announced on Tuesday.

Danladi, a sophomore forward from Takoradi, Ghana, totaled three assists in a key 4-2 road victory over then-No. 6 Akron. He set up the first two Bruin goals, including a back-heeled assist, for the team’s first goal. Danladi assisted on the eventual game-winner in the 75th minute to Seyi Adekoya. In addition to his first three assists, Danladi drew a penalty kick in the box to set up Jose Hernandez’s insurance goal from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute.

Danladi has six goals and eight assists for 20 points on the season, landing in the team’s top three in each category for the Bruins. He ranks third on the team in goals, first in assists and third in points. Danladi has scored a goal or notched an assist in five-straight games, with a total of five goals and four assists over that stretch.

This is Danladi’s second-career weekly honor and 58th all-time Conference weekly nod for UCLA.

UCLA hosts the Pacific Northwest schools this week. The Bruins host Oregon State on Friday at 2 p.m., and then host Washington on Sunday at 5 p.m. The UCLA-Washington tilt on Sunday will be broadcast on Pac-12 Los Angeles and Pac-12 Washington.

A total of 37 matches will be featured live on the Pac-12 Network.
