SAN FRANCISCO - The Conference office announced today that Mads Engsted of CALIFORNIA was named Pac-12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week and Klara Fabikova of CALIFORNIA was voted Women's Tennis Player of the Week for action during the week of Feb. 15-21. It is the second time this year that the Golden Bears have swept the weekly honors.

Engsted (Aarhus, DenMark) clinched No. 18 Cal’s 4-3 win over rival and No. 22 Stanford in Saturday’s Big Slam on the Farm. The senior also clinched the doubles point with sophomore teammate J.T. Nishimura. With the match knotted at 3-3, Engsted upset No. 119 Michael Genender, 7-6 (1), 3-6, 7-5, to improve Cal’s record to 5-1 after the non-conference victory. Playing court-three doubles, Engsted and Nishimura defeated Yale Goldberg and Sameer Kumar, 7-6 (8), to secure the point. This is Engsted's first-career honor and the 23rd all-time for the Golden Bears.

Fabikova (Brno, Czech Republic) won twice in singles and twice in doubles in top-ranked California’s sweep of No. 22 UCLA and No. 11 USC in Los Angeles. The senior clinched the 5-2 victory against the Bruins on Feb. 20, beating Kyle McPhillips, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, at court-two singles to improve her season record to 21-5. She paired with freshman Olivia Hauger to shut out Terri Fleming and Kelly Shaffer, 6-0, at court-two doubles to improve their record to 10-4. One day earlier, Fabikova beat USC’s Madison Westby, 6-2, 6-2, at Marks Tennis Stadium as part of Cal’s 5-2 victory over the Trojans. She also paired with Hauger to defeat Zoë Katz and Jessica Failla, 7-6 (3), on court two en route to Cal winning the doubles point. This marks Fabikova's third-career weekly accolade and the 33rd all-time for the California program.
