Pac-12 announces outdoor track & field athletes of the week

The Pac-12 Conference outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors for the week of March 25-31:

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
William Paulson, Arizona State

ASU senior Paulson set the NCAA lead in the 1,500-meter run at the Stanford Invitational as the indoor mile All-American clocked a 3:42.53 to win the event. The mark moved the liberal studies graduate student into the top-five in ASU history.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Jessica Hull, Oregon

One the Pac-12's five women on The Bowerman watch list, Hull opened her 2019 outdoor campaign with an NCAA-leading 15:34.93 to win the 5,000-meter run at the Stanford Invitational. She beat the next fastest collegian in the race by more than three seconds. Hull owned a previous 5,000 best of 16:29.14, but had only run the event at Pac-12 Championships. In addition to topping the NCAA list, the human physiology major posted the No. 3 time in the world and became the No. 4 performer in Oregon history.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Jonah Wilson, Washington

Clovis, Calif.

Wilson won the Stanford Invitational shot put invite section with a personal best, going to No. 3 in the NCAA this season with a toss of 19.69 meters (64-7.25). That moved Wilson to tops in the Pac-12 this season and No. 3 in Washington school history with the best mark by a Husky since 1998. It improved the pre-social sciences major's outdoor PR by over 9 feet. Wilson also added a personal best in the discus, throwing 53.79 meters (176-6) for third in the collegiate section.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Olivia Gruver, Washington

The Pac-12's third USTFCCCA Division I National Women's Athlete of the Week in as many weeks this season, Gruver broke the NCAA outdoor record in the pole vault at the Stanford Invitational on Friday, clearing 4.73 meters (15-6.25). She broke the collegiate record held by former Arkansas vaulter and Olympic silver medalist Sandi Morris, which had stood since 2015. The pre-social sciences major also shattered the Pac-12 vault record by over five inches and the UW school record by 13 inches, and is now tied for No. 4 in U.S. outdoor history. The transfer from Kentucky has won the last two NCAA outdoor titles in the pole vault and is currently on the watch list for The Bowerman.

Men's Top 25: #8 Oregon, #18 Arizona, #19 Stanford, #23 UCLA

The Pac-12's four men's top 25 teams is tied for the second-most nationally, trailing only the SEC's 10. 

Women's Top 25: #1 USC, #5 Oregon, #12 Colorado, #13 Stanford, #19 Washington, #22 UCLA

The reigning NCAA outdoor champion and indoor runner-up Trojans remained atop the rankings, leading a pack of six Pac-12 programs in the top 25 - the second-most nationally behind only the SEC's nine.
