Broussard Named CU Athlete of the Week, Presented By Arrow

Nov 10, 2020

Colorado Football's Jarek Broussard is the CU Athlete of the Week, presented by Arrow.

Broussard started at tailback for the Buffs and burst onto the college scene in his first career game. The sophomore rushed for 187 yards and three touchdowns, adding 21 yards receiving, in a 48-42 CU win over UCLA on Saturday. His 187 yards rushing and 208 total yards are the most gained by a player in their first game as a Buff. Broussard was named both Co-Offensive Player of the Game by the program and Offensive Player of the Week by the Pac-12. Only one player in the country amassed as many yards on the ground than Broussard over the weekend.

The back's record-breaking performance on Folsom Field this past Saturday was made all the sweeter for what the Dallas native has gone through early in his collegiate career. After redshirting his freshman season in 2018, he missed all of 2019 with a knee injury suffered in September. Broussard went to work rehabbing the injury and shined in a shortened training camp,  finishing atop the depth chart for the Buffs at tailback.

Broussard is also on the Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year Award preseason watch list.
