Brennan Carroll Joins Arizona as Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach
TUCSON, Ariz. – Head Coach Jedd Fisch has announced the addition of Brennan Carroll to Arizona Football staff as Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach. Carroll will join the Wildcats from the Seattle Seahawks where he's spent the last six seasons as running game coordinator and offensive line coach following a decade in the college ranks at USC and Miami.
"Brennan and I have known each other for over 10 years and worked together during the 2011 and 2012 seasons," said Head Coach Jedd Fisch. "I am excited to build this offense together. He has incredible experience, grew up in a football house, been trained by the very best in the business, and has seen a culture of winning his whole life. Brennan's positive attitude is matched by his football acumen. Our offensive linemen will be trained to become professionals both on and off the field. I am excited to work hand in hand with Brennan on developing an offensive system to bring back the winning traditions of Arizona Football."
The Seahawks' offense has been among the NFL's best during Carroll's time in Seattle. The team has ranked among the top five in rushing in three different seasons, which includes being the top rushing offense in the NFL in 2018. Offensive players on Seattle's roster have made 11 trips to the Pro Bowl during Carroll's tenure with the Seahawks, led by quarterback Russell Wilson's five trips to Hawai'i. The franchise has posted an overall record of 61-33 in those six seasons with four playoff appearances and a fifth secured for this season.
"I'm humbled and honored to become a part of the University of Arizona," Carroll said. "Having the opportunity to be reunited with Coach Fisch and his family was something my family and I had always hoped for. I have always had tremendous respect for the Pac-12 Conference and loved my time competing in this league. The opportunity be a part of the growth of this program was something I could not pass up. This is a great time to be a part of the Wildcat Family, and my family and I can't wait to get to Tucson."
The 41-year-old has strong coaching bloodlines as the oldest son of former USC, and current Seattle Seahawks head coach, Pete Carroll. Prior to his move to the NFL, Carroll spent four seasons coaching tight ends and wide receivers as well as handling recruiting coordinator duties for Miami under head coach Al Golden from 2011 to 2014. The Hurricanes had three recruiting classes ranked in the top 15 nationally during those seasons.
His coaching career began at USC where he spent the 2002 and 2003 seasons as a graduate assistant before being elevated to the Trojans' tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator for six seasons. Carroll coached elite tight ends for USC as the position coach, including 2007 Mackey Award winner Fred Davis as well as Dominique Byrd who was selected in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft. While in Los Angeles, Carroll was on staff for eight total seasons as the Trojans won 91 games, won four Rose Bowls and defeated Oklahoma in the national championship game in the 2005 Orange Bowl.
Carroll played tight end in college at Pittsburgh after transferring from Delaware. He earned his bachelor's degree from Pittsburgh in 2001. Carroll and his wife, Amber, have three children.
