Hurta Named Pac-12 Athlete of The Week

Apr 7, 2021

SAN FRANCISCO – Colorado track and field senior Sage Hurta added to her stellar senior year achievement list already, becoming the 10th Colorado athlete to be named the Pac-12 Athlete of the Week the conference announced Wednesday morning.

Hurta earns the achievement after breaking her own school record in the women's 800 last week at the GCU Antelope Invitational in 2:00.62. This is the second time she has broken the school record but the first time in a CU jersey after she won the Music City Distance Festival 800 in 2:00.99 in 2019.

The mark also put Hurta into the top-10 in NCAA history as she tied the 10th-best mark, making her the sixth CU athlete to be featured on the NCAA Top-10 lists. She is also the only CU woman to be featured in the 800, joining the likes of Jenny Barringer, Emma Coburn, Shalaya Kipp, Dani Jones and Brent Vaughn to be featured on the all-time lists.

Hurta is accompanied by the two national athletes of the week, Cole Hocker (Men's Track/Oregon) and Camryn Rogers (Women's Field/Cal) along with Jordan Scott (Men's Field/USC).

Hurta and the rest of the Buffs are in action this weekend in Boulder at the Colorado Invitational.
