Buffs Perform Well in Final Tune-up

USAFA — The Colorado men's 4x100m relay team highlighted a day of strong performances for the Buffaloes at the Air Force Twilight Open on Friday. 

CU's relay team of Ian Gilmore, Ronald SaylesDimitri Stanley and Mark Perry ran the sixth-fastest time in school history. The team ran the event solo, finishing with a time of 40.11.  

Perry and Stanley also earned top spots individually in the 100m. Perry finished atop the event with Air Force's Wyatt Murphy, both running a 10.71. Stanley was just off the paces, finishing in 10.80. Chris Craig rounded out the CU sprinters in the event, finishing in fourth with a time of 10.99. 

Kylee Harr had her best day of the season in the women's high jump, clearing a season-best 1.74m. She finished second behind Air Force's Shelley Spires who cleared 1.83m. 

The Buffs swept the top 3 spots in the men's 400m hurdles. Aaron McCoy led CU's trio with a time of 53.27. Kellen Monestime (54.17) and Garrett Nelson (55.10) finished second and third, respectively. 

CU's women's hurdlers also had success on the day. The Buffaloes took 1st through 4th with Abby Glynn crossing the finish first in 1:00.19. Tamia Badal (1:02.13), Valerie Welch (1:03.73) and Reese Renz (1:06.03) closed out the quartet. Kara Lucyk finished the event in 7th with a time of 1:17.07. 

Colorado's throwers performed well in both the men's and women's hammer. Tyler Sconce maxed out a distance of 57.44m, good for second in the men's field. On the women's side, Jane Powers also finished second with a top throw of 51.11m. 

Colorado will now turn its attention to the Pac-12 Championships, in Los Angeles. The meet is set to take place across three days, starting on May 14.
