Buffs Return to Prentup

Sep 4, 2021

BOULDER – Colorado returns to Prentup Field on Sunday, following its quick trip to Texas. The Buffaloes will close out three consecutive matches against 2020 NCAA Tournament teams, hosting Stony Brook at noon.

Colorado (2-2-0) will look to get back into the win column against the Seawolves. CU has been on the short side in its last two matches against No. 1 Florida State and No. 6 TCU. Although not ranked, Stony Brook still presents a challenge for the Buffs.

"We can't feel sorry for ourselves," head coach Danny Sanchez explained. "We knew this was going to be a tough stretch. We set up this non-conference schedule and I think we'll learn a lot about ourselves. I'll be shocked if our team doesn't come out with a ton of energy on Sunday."

Stony Brook (1-2-1) has had a slower start to the 2021 season. The Seawolves have been outscored 9-2 this season and are coming off a 4-0 loss to Providence on Thursday. Located in Long Island, N.Y., the trip to Boulder will be Stony Brook's furthest trip west since traveling to Oregon and Oregon State at the start of the 2018 season.

The Buffs own a 1-0-0 record against the Seawolves, having previously met in 2013. Colorado posted four goals and Annie Brunner preserved the shutout early CU's Sweet 16 season.

Kickoff was originally set for 1 p.m. but has been moved up an hour to noon. The match will be streamed on CUBuffs.com/WatchSoc.
