Cougs Split a Pair of Races at Gonzaga

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Washington State rowing team picked up a win over Gonzaga in the third varsity eight race Saturday, April 2, as the Cougars split a pair of races against the Bulldogs on the Spokane River.

Washington State's 3V8+ boat posted a nearly 20-second win over Gonzaga's 3V8+ boat, as the Cougars crossed the finish line in 7:04.27.

The Cougars ended the regatta by taking second place in the novice eight race. Washington State clocked in at 7:27.74. Gonzaga won the NV8+ race with a time of 7:21.46.

"The Cougs did an excellent job bringing the energy today," said WSU Novice Rowing Coach Allie Eaton. "They had a great start and looked strong. They committed to having fun and that enjoyment was apparent in their performance."

WSU returns to action next weekend, as the Cougars head to Las Vegas to compete in the Pac-12 Invitational. The regatta will take place April 9-10 on Lake Las Vegas.
