Postgame Notes - Colorado State

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State improved to 3-0 with a 31-7 win over Colorado State at Gesa Field Saturday afternoon. Below are the postgame notes from the win.

•      WSU improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2019
•      Jake Dickert is the ninth WSU head coach to start his first full season 3-0, first since Mike Price started 4-0 in 1989
•      WSU made seven sacks, tied for the seventh-most in WSU single-game history and most since 2017 (8, at Utah)
•      WSU tallied two more takeaways (INT, Fumble recovery), have now forced multiple takeaways in 13 of last 16 games
•      WSU posted its first 1st-half shutout since Oregon in 2018, led 27-0
•      5 players made their WSU debuts; Robert Ferrel (WR), Andre Dollar (TE), Kannon Katzer (RB), Jernias Tafia (OL), Alec Eckert (DL)
•      WR Orion Peters made his 1st career start, WSU started game in 5-wide, caught 2 passes for nine yards
•      Cameron Ward threw for 292 yards and 4 TD passes, his 12th career game with 4+  passing TD
•      Ward is the fourth Cougar quarterback to win his first three WSU starts since 1976; Chad Davis (1994), Steve Birnbaum (1998), Anthony Gordon (2019)
•      Nakia Watson rushed for 74 yards, his 39-yard run in the 1st quarter was his longest run of the season
•      De'Zhaun Stribling caught four passes for 69 yards including 2 TD (13, 19), his 1st career 2-TD game
•      Donovan Ollie matched a career-high with seven catches for a career-high 82 yards and 2 TD (17, 2), hist 1st career 2-TD game
•      RB Kannon Katzer made his collegiate debut, rushed for 54 yards including a one-yard rushing TD
•      WR Robert Ferrel made his WSU debut, 1st catch as a Coug was a 26-yard grab, had 3 catches for 64 yards
•      TE Andre Dollar made his collegiate debut on offense late in the 1st quarter
•      WR Leyton Smithson recorded his 1st career catch, caught two passes for six yards
•      Daiyan Henley made a career-high 13 tackles including 3 sacks, his 7th career double-digit tackle effort and 1st as a Coug
•      Henley's three-sack game is the most since Hercules Mata'afa made three in the win at Utah in 2017
•      Francisco Mauigoa made a career-high eight tackles including career-high 1.5 sacks and two forced fumbles
•      Amir Mujahid started at DT, his 1st start of 2022
•      Jaden Hicks recorded his 1st career INT and made a career-high 10 tackles
•      Nick Haberer recorded a career-long 61-yard punt midway through the 3rd quarter
