Pac-12 Performance Awards, presented by Nextiva - Football Week 10

The Pac-12 today announced its 2023 football season's 10th weekly performance awards, presented by Nextiva. See below for Week 10's recognitions across the Conference and keep track of the 2023 Offensive Player of the Year watchlist here:

OFFENSE: Dillon Johnson, Jr., RB, Washington (Greenville, Miss.)

  • Historically good game in the Huskies' 52-42 win at #20 USC, rushing for 256 yards and 4 touchdowns on 26 carries, easily setting career highs in all 3 categories
  • 256 yards were the 5th most ever by a Husky and the most since Chris Polk had 286 in 2010 against Washington State
  • 4 rush TD tied for 4th most ever by a Husky and the most since Myles Gaskin had 4 in 2017 against Washington State
  • 5th most rushing yards in a game by any player in FBS this season and most in the Pac-12.  Only Pac-12 player to rush for over 200 yards this season and the most in the conference since Cal's Jaydn Ott had 274 against Arizona
  • Became 1st Pac-12 player with 250+ rush yards and 4+ rush TD in a game since Arizona's Khalil Tate in 2017 against Colorado.  1st Pac-12 running back to do it since Utah's Joe Williams against UCLA in 2016
  • Prior to Saturday, Johnson had reached 100 yards in a game just once in his career, both at UW and Mississippi State.  Had 100 yards 3 weeks ago against Oregon
  • His 256 rushing yards were also 3rd most ever allowed by a USC team
  • 2nd UW player to win this award this season as QB Michael Penix Jr. was honored in Week 3.  First Huskies' RB to earn Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week since Myles Gaskin in the final week of the 2018 season

DEFENSE & DEFENSIVE LINE:  Andrew Chatfield, Jr., RS Sr., OLB, Oregon State (Plantation, Fla.)

  • Recorded 3 sacks to go along with 1 forced fumble, 2 pass breakups and 2 quarterback hurries in 26-19 win at Colorado
  • His 3 sacks netted 36 total lost yards which helped the Beavers force Colorado into -7 yards rushing.  It was the 1st time since 2007 an OSU opponent had negative rush yards 
  • Forced a fumble on a 14-yard sack early in the 1st quarter.  2 other sacks both went for 11 yards apiece
  • 7 sacks on the season, 4th most in the Pac-12 
  • Forced fumble was the 2nd of his collegiate career
  • 3 TFL led OSU, which had 6 overall against the Buffaloes
  • First Beaver with 3 sacks in a game since Hamilcar Rashed Jr. in 2019 against Arizona
  • 3 sacks also tied for the 2nd most by a Pac-12 player in a game this season
  • One of the top 5 graded defensive players in the Pac-12 per PFF which totaled him with 8 pressures in the win

Also nominated for Defensive Line:  Zion Tupuola-Fetui, EDGE, Washington; Jonah Elliss, DE, Utah; Casey Rogers, DL, Oregon; Anthony Franklin, DL, Stanford; Russell Davis II, DL, Arizona

SPECIAL TEAMS:  Joshua Karty, Sr., K, Stanford (Burlington, N.C.)

  • Scored the game-winning field goal with 5:56 left in the fourth quarter in 10-7 win at Washington State
  • Made his only extra point attempt after a Justin Lamson TD run in the 3rd quarter
  • 18-18 PAT, 16-19 FG throughout the 2023 season
  • 2nd time winning this award this season (Week 7) after winning it 4 times last season

OFFENSIVE LINE:  Parker Brailsford, RS Fr., C, Washington (Mesa, Ariz.)

  • Top-graded offensive lineman for a UW offense that registered an historic performance in a 52-42 win over USC Saturday at the Coliseum
  • For the first time in 22 games under head coach Kalen DeBoer, the Huskies compiled more rushing (316) than passing (256) yards, and Washington had 18 more points than it had ever scored vs. USC (34 was previous high)
  • UW allowed just one sack and three tackles for loss, rolling up 572 yards of total offense on 72 plays (7.2 yards per play)
  • Running back Dillon Johnson rushed for 256 yards on 26 carries, the fifth-highest, single-game rushing yards total in Husky history
  • 1st UW player to win this award this season after 3 different Huskies were honored last season.  Brailsford did take home Freshman of the Week in Week 3

FRESHMAN:  Noah Fifita, RS Fr., QB, Arizona (Huntington Beach, Calif.)

  • Ties the record for most Pac-12 Freshman of the Week awards which was created prior to the 2019 season.  Former Arizona State (now LSU) QB Jayden Daniels won it 4 times in 2019.  Fifita wins for the 4th time in the last 5 weeks
  • All 5 of Fifita's career starts have been against AP Top 25, only FBS QB since at least 2012 to make first 5 career starts against AP Top 25 opponents
  • Completed 78.1% of his passes (25-of-32) for the 2nd consecutive week against No. 20 UCLA.  3rd straight game completing at least 78% of his passes.  
  • 76.2 completion % this season is 2nd in FBS behind Oregon's Bo Nix (78.1).  FBS record for completion percentage in a season is 77.4% by Alabama's Mac Jones in 2020 (minimum 150 attempts)
  • 300 passing yards vs. UCLA, 3rd time in the last 4 games with 300+ pass yards
  • 3 pass TD vs. UCLA, 3rd time in the last 4 games with 3+ pass TD
  • Led the Wildcats to their 3rd consecutive win over an AP Top 25 team for the first time in program history
  • Broke off an 18-yard rush, his longest of the season, and the 2nd longest Arizona rush of the game allowed by the No. 1 rushing defense in the country. (Longest: Jonah Coleman, 19 yards).
