Pac-12 Tennis Players of the Week – March 12, 2024

MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Nishesh Basavareddy, So., Stanford (Carmel, Ind.)

  • Picked up a pair of singles wins and a doubles victory across Stanford’s wins over UNLV (March 8) and USC (March 10). 
  • Opened the weekend with a 6-2, 6-1 win on the top singles court over Anton Ornberg of UNLV. Followed with a 6-1 doubles win on court two. 
  • Defeated No. 50 Peter Makk of USC in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4.
  • Becomes the first man in the Pac-12 this season to win a pair of Player of the Week honors, as he also secured the weekly acclaim on Feb. 13.

WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tian Fangran, So., UCLA (Beijing, China)

  • Helped lead the Bruins to a pair of league wins against Washington State (March 8) and then-No. 25 Washington (March 9). 
  • Opened her weekend with a singles win against Eva Alvarez Sande of Washington State (6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (5)).
  • Followed with a straight-sets, 6-4,-6-1 sin in singles against Erika Matsuda of Washington before pairing with Elise Wagle to help secure the doubles point (6-4). 
  • Becomes first woman in the Pac-12 this season to win back-to-back Player of the Week awards. Also earned her conference-leading third weekly honor this season.
