California football closed out 2019 with a 35-20 Redbox Bowl victory against Illinois on Monday in Santa Clara. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Chase Garbers threw for 272 yards, four touchdowns and added one rushing touchdown to help the Golden Bears end the season with an 8-5 record. Senior linebacker Evan Weaver finished the season with 182 tackles, which is fifth-most in a single season in FBS history. With the loss, Illinois ends the year at 6-7 overall.
