WSU-UW Dual Meet May 3 at Mooberry Track

COUGARS VERSUS HUSKIES SATURDAY, MAY 3, IN PULLMAN
The track and field teams from Washington State University and the University of Washington will meet in the nearly annual dual meet Saturday, May 3, at the Mooberry Track Facility in Pullman...scoring is 5-3-1 for individual events and 5-0 for relays...field events begin at 11 a.m. and running events at 1:15 p.m...there is no charge for spectators...Live results will be available - links will be posted at on the WSU Track Schedule page at www.wsucougars.com...for more information about the history of the meet, see below.
COUGARS & HUSKIES DUAL HISTORY: 38th FOR WOMEN, 98th FOR MEN
The 2013 WSU-UW dual scores were: Men - UW 92, WSU 71, and Women - WSU 86, UW 77......men’s dual meet history is not clear-cut, with some multi-scored meets also scored as dual meets...the WSU records show this is 98th dual meeting between the Cougars and Huskies men’s teams...WSU leads the series 62-33-1 with Coach Sloan’s record 11-9 in UW dual contests...there are also records of meetings in multi-team meets in 1900, two in 1945, 1986, and 2001...overall the UW women lead the series with WSU 21-17...under Coach Sloan, the WSU women’s team has defeated Washington in 13 of the last 18 years...two former WSU women’s team head coaches will also be at the May 3, 2014 meet...working at Cougar home meets, Jessica Casselman (1983-84) is the high jump head judge and Rob Casselman (1985-95) is the official starter.
ABOUT  THE COUGAR COACHES
Head coach Rick Sloan is in his 41st season with the Cougar track program; 20th year as a head coach, 19th year as mentor to the combined men’s and women’s program...Sloan (decathlon/heptathlon) is joined by associate coach Debra Farwell (throws) and assistant coaches Mark Macdonald (hurdles/relays), Ellannee Richardson (sprints/relays), Matt McGee (jumps) and cross country coach Tim Riley (distance)…volunteers include Caroline Austin (distance), Veronica Elseroad-Wall (hurdles), Oliver Henry (throws), and Emma Kertesz (distance).
WSU HOSTS 2014 PAC-12 TRACK & FIELD OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Washington State University hosts the 29th Annual Women’s and 84th Annual Men’s Pac-12 Conference Track and Field Championships at the Mooberry Track Complex in Pullman. The Combined Events Championships are Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11, while the individual events and team scoring continues the next weekend, May 17 and 18. More information about the conference meet can be found at wsucougars.com and tickets may be purchased online. The Pac-12 Networks will air the meet on a tape-delayed basis the following week.
