Men’s Track Athletes of the Week: 4x400m Relay, UCLA

  • Bruins’ quartet of Antonie Nortje, Willington Wright, Ismail Turner, and Cameron Reynolds clocked a school-record time of 2:59.25 at the Texas Relays.
  • Broke the previous school record (2:59.91) set in 1988 and became just the second UCLA team to duck under three minutes in the relay.
  • Second all-time in Pac-12 history and seventh all-time in NCAA history in the event.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week: Emily Venters, Sr., Utah (Lawrence, Kan.)

  • Ran the top 10,000m time in the NCAA this year at 31:48.35 to win the event at the Stanford Invitational. 
  • Now the Pac-12’s all-time leader in the event and sixth all-time in NCAA history. 
  • Ran the fastest 10,000m time in the NCAA since Emily Sisson (Providence) and Kate Avery (Iona) ran 31:38.03 and 31:44.44, respectively, in May 2022 at Stanford’s Payton Jordan Invitational.
  • Became the first woman in Pac-12 history to break 32 minutes in the event.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: Turner Washington, Gr., Arizona State (Tucson, Ariz.)

  • Won the men’s discus competition at the Texas Relays with a toss of 64.01m (210-00). 
  • Pac-12 and NCAA leader in the event and is the only thrower in the country to eclipse 64 meters this season.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: Alyssa Jones, Fr., Stanford (Homestead, Fla.)

  • Won her first collegiate outdoor long jump competition with a mark of 6.41m (21-00.50).
  • The freshman moved into sixth place all-time in Stanford outdoor history in the event.
  • The mark was good for the top performance in the event in the Pac-12 this season.
