Pac-12 Performance Awards, presented by Nextiva - Football Week 11

The Pac-12 today announced its 2023 football season's 11th weekly performance awards, presented by Nextiva. See below for Week 11's recognitions across the Conference and keep track of the 2023 Offensive Player of the Year watchlist here:

OFFENSE: Bo Nix, Sr., QB, Oregon (Pinson, Ala.)

  • Continued to strengthen Heisman Trophy resume while leading Oregon to a 36-27 win over USC
  • Completed 23-of-31 passes for a season-high 412 yards and 4 touchdowns 
  • Second straight game with 4 passing TD 
  • First 400-yard passing game of the season while becoming just the second Duck with 3 400-yard games in a career 
  • Most passing yards ever by a Duck vs. USC 
  • Touchdown throws of 77 and 84 yards on first 2 pass attempts - the two longest completions of his UO career - becoming the first FBS QB since at least 2012 to throw touchdowns of at least 75 yards on first 2 pass attempts 
  • Became the 11th Pac-12 QB since 1996 to throw 2 touchdowns of 75-plus yards in a game, and first since 2014 
  • Leads the nation with a 77.7 completion percentage, on pace to break the NCAA single-season record of 77.4 
  • 3rd nationally in passer rating (184.66), tied for 2nd in passing TD (29), 5th in passing yards per game (313.5) and 5th in total touchdowns (34)
  • 3rd time being named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week this season and 6th time in the last 2 years.  Only player to earn the honor multiple times this season.  Passes Marcus Mariota, becoming first Oregon player to win Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week 6 times

DEFENSE & FRESHMAN:  Cade Uluave, Jr., Fr., ILB, California (South Jordan, Utah)

  • Freshman All-American candidate had an interception at Cal's 3-yard line on the game's final play to secure a 42-39 win over Washington State
  • Added 2 fumble recoveries, including one that he stripped and returned 51 yards for a touchdown and the game's first score.  Had another on the Cougars' 19-yard line that led to a Cal touchdown
  • Had 9 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss (-4 yards)
  • 45 tackles on the season with at least 9 in each of the last 4 contests, as well as a team-high 4.5 tackles for loss (-37 yards), 1.0 sack (-23 yards), 1 interception that he returned 4 yards, 2 pass breakups, 2 fumble recoveries that he has returned 51 yards and 2 forced fumbles
  • Has played in all 10 games and started each of the last 3, while all of his stats other than participation have come over the last 5 contests
  • First Cal player to win either award this season and first Golden Bear to win both in the same week since the Freshman award was created prior to the 2019 season.  Uluave is the first Cal player to win Defensive Player of the Week since LB Kuony Deng in December 2020.  First Cal player to earn Freshman of the Week since RB Jaydn Ott won it 3 times last year and only the 2nd Cal defensive player to win (CB Lu-Magia Hearns III in November 2021)

SPECIAL TEAMS:  Tyler Loop, Jr., K, Arizona (Lucas, Texas)

  • Kicked game-winning field goal from 24 yards out to give Arizona a 34-31 win over Colorado
  • Finished 2-of-2 on field goal attempts with a career-long 52-yarder that proved to be huge in a 3-point win on the road
  • First time winning this award and first Arizona player to be named Special Teams Player of the Week since P Kyle Ostendorp in November 2021.  First Arizona place kicker to earn the honor since Lucas Havrisik in October 2019

OFFENSIVE LINE:  Brian Driscoll, RS Jr., C, California (San Diego, Calif.)

  • Became the first Cal football offensive lineman to score a touchdown in the Golden Bears' recorded history dating back to at least 1996 (according to Stats, Inc.) when he recovered a fumble in the Washington State end zone in 2nd quarter of Cal's 42-39 win over the Cougars
  • Paved the way for running back Jaydn Ott, who rushed for 167 yards and 1 touchdown on 27 carries while becoming the first Cal player to surpass the 1,000-yard rushing mark in a single season since Patrick Laird in 2017
  • Started each of Cal's 10 games in 2023 as well as a team-high-tying 22 in a row overall
  • 2nd time this season Driscoll has been honored after winning in Week 1.  Becomes just the 2nd Cal player to win this award since it was created prior to the 2019 season, joining Ben Coleman who also won it twice.  Coleman won it once in 2021 and again in 2022

DEFENSIVE LINE:  Dashaun Mallory, Gr., DL, Arizona State (Bolingbrook, Ill.)

  • Finished with 9 total tackles, 6 of which were solo in Arizona State's 17-7 road win over UCLA. Mallory accounted for the most solo tackles in the nation by an interior defensive lineman and tied for the most overall tackles at the position in the country
  • Credited with the 2nd most "stops" in Week 11 by PFF, spending most of his evening in the backfield of the Bruins
  • ASU's defense shut out the Bruins at the half, which was only the 2nd time a team had accomplished that feat. UCLA managed to score only 7 points, the fewest points the Bruins have scored in a home game since Sept. 25, 2010
  • 1st time winning this award but 2nd time in the last 3 weeks a Sun Devil has won after B.J. Green was honored in Week 9
