Pac-12 announces tennis players of the week

Pac-12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week: Axel Geller, So., Stanford (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
• No. 10 ranked Geller earned a pair of wins over top-50 opponents to lead No. 10 Stanford to victories over No. 19 Tulane (4-0) and No. 4 Florida (4-1) at the ITA Team National Indoor Championships.
• Helped the Cardinal blank Tulane on Saturday by defeating No. 42 Luis Erlenbusch, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, on the first singles court and a win on the first doubles court with partner Alex Rotsaert over Akos Kotorman and Ewan Moore, 6-3.
• In Sunday's win over the Gators, he dropped just three games in a straight-set win over No. 20 Oliver Crawford, 6-2, 6-1. His victory was the first of four consecutive wins in singles as Stanford knocked off Florida.
• Geller, honored last year as an ITA Scholar-Athlete last year for maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.50, earns his first-career Pac-12 Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honor and the 19th all-time weekly honor for the Cardinal.

Pac-12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week: Julia Rosenqvist, So., California (Onsala, Sweden)
No. 41 ranked Rosenqvist went 4-0 in singles and doubles play on the weekend to help California rout San Diego State, 7-0, and upset No. 7 Pepperdine, 4-3.
• Against SDSU, defeated Nnena Nadozie, 6-2, 6-4, on the second singles court and won 6-1 on the second doubles court with partner Hana Mraz against Abbie Mulbarger and Agustina Rimoldi.
• Rosenqvist and Mraz went on to upset the nation’s top-ranked doubles team in Ashley Lahey and Evgeniya Levashova of Pepperdine, 6-3. Later, Rosenqvist faced Lahey in singles on the first court and prevailed in three sets, 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-4, to clinch the upset win over the Waves.
• The sophomore intending to major in political economy earns her second-career Pac-12 Women’s Tennis Player of the Week honor and the 42nd all-time weekly honor for the Bears. Off the court, she is involved in Cal’s BearTrax program, an after-school tennis and tutoring program for local children.
