By: Pac-12 Conference

Santino Sanchez, R-Jr., Cal State Bakersfield (Whittier, Calif.)

For the first time in his career, Cal State Bakersfield’s Santino Sanchez was named Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week.  Sanchez becomes the first Roadrunner to claim this honor this season after Coach Luke Smith’s program led the league with five weekly awards in the 2024-25.  The last Bakersfield grappler to receive the Pac-12’s weekly accolades was Gerrit Nijenhuis last January.

Sanchez (141) earned his third-straight win, all with bonus points, with a second-period fall against California Baptist's Damien Alvarez. The Roadrunner built up a 14-0 lead in less than four minutes, then finished the job with a dominant pin. Sanchez, who is 8-8 on the season including 0-4 against ranked foes, has now won four of his last five matches.

ALSO NOMINATED: Cash Stewart,, Cal Poly
