• Four Pac-12 student-athletes were selected as candidates for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award, which is bestowed to a NCAA Division I senior who has notable achievements in the four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. The list is headlined by #10 ARIZONA’s Aari McDonald and Sam Thomas, #5 STANFORD’s Kiana Williams, and #8 UCLA’s Michaela Onyenwere. The Wildcats are one of two schools (Mercer) with two honorees on the list.
• #5 STANFORD moved up one spot in the latest AP top 25 poll and is followed by #8 UCLA, #10 ARIZONA and #11 OREGON, giving the Conference of Champions four teams in the top 11, the most of any other league in the country.
• STANFORD holds the top spot once again in the latest NET Rankings, followed by #6 OREGON, #8 UCLA, #11 ARIZONA, #35 WASHINGTON STATE, #48 OREGON STATE, #50 USC, #60 COLORADO and #70 ARIZONA STATE for nine teams in the top 70. The three teams in the top 8 are the most of any other conference.
• #10 ARIZONA’s McDonald, #5 STANFORD’s Haley Jones and Williams, and #8 UCLA’s Onyenwere and Charisma Osborne were named to the Naismith Trophy Midseason Team for the 2021 Women’s Player of the Year award. The midseason list of 30 players will be narrowed to 10 semi-finalists on March 2 before narrowed again to four on March 19. #5 STANFORD’s Fran Belibi was one of the ten candidates named to the Katrina McLain Award (PF) watch list, and her teammate Jones joined #8 UCLA’s Onyenwere on the Cheryl Miller Award (SF) watch list.
• San Antonio will officially host the DI WBB Championship in a quasi-bubble, with 64 teams descending upon the city and surrounding region from March 21-April 4. The 63-game tournament will take place at five venues and six courts, and second-round play will shift entirely to San Antonio-based venues and rounds beginning with the Sweet 16 will be played at the Alamodome.
